My Dear Father

I received your letter announcing the birth of a little boy yesterday, and must congratulate you. on this happy event. I hope he will grow up to make a distinguished man You must present my congratulations also to Florida who I hope is recovering rapidly.

Lizzy Briggs wrote me a week ago that Aunt Mary was not at all well, but was suffering with an inflamed swelling upon her breast, that Dr Eldridge was quite certain would turn into a cancer.
