My dear Father,

Enclosed I send you a special order which I cut from a paper last night and which I presume is correct. I understand that too many men have been brevetted. brig. Gen'ls and Major Generals that they are now beginning to squabble about the dates of their appointments and that this Board will have not only to do with that matter but will in all probablity cut off the heads of those who have been nominated as such but not as yet confirmed.
