My dear father

I have been intending every day for some time just to write you, but have kept putting it off hoping something definite might come up with reference to my future movements, as I do not hear anything. I will tell you of what has already taken place.You remember I wrote you about resigning, and taking the charge of an iron manufacturing Company here. Well the Directors kept at me until I finally consented to make a [?] of the place for one year provided I could obtain a leave of absence for that period
