What do you think of my taking it? and leaving a service where humbug [?] and not hard work is not appreciated. I have been a long nine-away. Any appointments but upon my will I am serious in asking your advice as to what I should do in this matter [?] I fully believe that the "old humbug" now in the position of Chief Engineer is trying and will continue to try to have me [?] some station in the Gulf and I don't believe, with my reinforcement [?], I could live in that climate any more than you could before me.
I am glad to hear you are so comfortably fixed in [?] Island and have no doubt but the change of this will be a great benefit to Florida
