each of the moles on this coast will be given to a separate officer in charge and that an officer higher in rank (Brewerton) will be sent to have the general supervision over all of them.
I am not at all particular about being relieved of the maps of the moles on this coast but would like to return the charge of Fort Preble in this harbor. I do not want to leave this station as I have become very much attached to it but I fear Gen Delafield is maneuvering to have me sent away.
I presume Bessie sails to day and I trust she will have a pleasant and safe voyage. Abby wrote me you had had Scott brevetted
