realized it was a man as there were some painters on a ladder above painting this wall. He smashed himself all to pieces and I suppose was killed instantly. On Friday evening I went over to the Navy Yard to a dinner which uncle Silas gave for their thirteenth anniversary. They brought us over and took us back in a [??] which was very considerate. I had a very pleasant time. I think this afternoon I will go out and see what [Barnard??] is doing on its fountain. Your affectionate. son
