My Dear Father -

Here I am again at the Pier for a short time as I suppose Mother has written you. It is raining hard with the wind from the south-west and with very slight prospects of clear weather. I am afraid it will be the regular August storm. I walked down to the Mount Hope house last evening. There was a hop but I thought it wasn't worth while to dress for it. I had several dances with a Miss Anderson of St. Louis, who is a splendid waltzer-there were very few people on the floor. A Mr. Bispham of New York yesterday got up a small party to go to Newport today and see polo but of course the rain will prevent. Its too bad, as I think we should have had a nice time. I walked to the rock yesterday afternoon with Miss Thompson of Philadelphia
