Newport with a fair wind. It was showery during the middle of the day, but in the afternoon it rained one solid stream. Duzy and I spent some of the time in one of the hotels but didn't have a very lively time of it. We bunked in the boat that night and when we awoke [strikethrough] in [strikethrough] the next morning, it was raining still - it seemed as if it would never stop - but in a short time it held up a little and we decided to start for Bristol so we hoisted our sail and commenced boating up the bay. During the trip up, the weather cleared and the rest of the day we had fine weather and we had the same the remainder of the trip. We got to Bristol at about 1 o'clock and after looking over a part of Herreshoff's works, started for Rocky Point where we intended to anchor and spend the night. We arrived at about 5 o'clock + went ashore to get dinner. After dinner the time was principally spent in holding down the benches, looking at the workings, eating peanuts +c. at eight-o'clock the opera "Fatnitza" was to be played so we bought seats reserved at 25 cents a piece and piled in to see the show. It was acted and sung first rate. The chorus and the tenor singer Fessenden being the same that traveled in the winter.

The next morning we got under weigh bright and early bound for Providence - we had a head wind all the way up. We arrived at about half past eight or nine. I looked about for a ring in the morning, but couldn't find anything to suit me. In the afternoon we went to see a championship
