My Dear Father July 25

I came up to the farm yesterday & was [?] first by [name?] who made his appearance out of the pig house, dressed in a blue shirt. I had quite a nice time at the Pier, although it rained and was cloudy for 3 or 4 days. The day before I came away there was a splendid surf - one continual clash & foam all the time. In the evg I went to a hop at the Atlantic & had quite a nice time. It is a good deal of fun bowling when you can make a sufficient number of strikes & spares-I haven't as yet got over 109-which you know is very poor. How much have you bowled? I wore my [spiketail?] to the last hop but was the only one in the room so dressed which was little awkward. What kind of weather are you having in Washington.

Your affec son H.
