New Haven Conn June 13, 1880

My Dear Mother -

This day will be perfectly roasting I expect before it is through judging from the temperature now. Tomorrow our examinations commence and I shall be glad when they are done with and when I can get away from this place for the summer. Wednesday afternoon Wright + I got our tickets for the game and score cards at Beir's [Ben’s?] who is the great College apothecary man here. We then walked over to Ely's room which is in West Divinity. These are first rate rooms- each set consisting of a study and two nice bed rooms, but I don't think I should like to live there, one reason being that you have to go out for your meals, this especially in winter mornings is anything but pleasant.
