My dear Col
I received today a check from the Bridge Trustees for one thousand dollars half of which goes to you.
The check is drawn to order of "Newton and Casey" and before I can get it cashed or deposit it, I would like a [crossed out] perc... [crossed out] power of attorney to sign "Casey" in the signature of "Newton and Casey" as endorsement upon the check.
I signed "Newton and Casey" to a receipt [given?] to the Trustees believing that I had your authority so to do.
As soon as I get the power of attorney to endorse the check, I will transmit your share.
Col Thos. L. Casey (over)
Yrs very truly
John Newton
