N.Y. & Brooklyn Bridge Enquiry.

Gentlemen:

In accordance with the understanding had between Gen'l Newton and Mayor Low on the 17" ulto., and detailed in the former's letter under date 23d same, the latter laid before the Board of Trustees on the 12" [visit?], the whole subject of the limits of the proposed enquiry by the Examining Engineers, and we now have the honor to acquaint you with the result, viz: the passage of a resolution by unanimous consent, relieving the Committee from any Engineering examination whatever. The enquiry into this branch of the subject may therefore be considered at an end.

We cannot however let the occasion pass without expressing to you gentlemen our sincere thanks for your prompt willingness to undertake the service expected to be performed at the time the
