Dear Sir

I received a note yesterday from Genl Newton, in which he says you desired I should send you a statement of my expenditures to date on account of the Bridge. This statement is inclosed accounting to $62.00. Owing to the kindness of friends in New York City, I was able to avoid the expense of hotel charges during my several trips.
