Gentlemen:
I have received your letter of yesterday's date and in reply beg to say that before you retire as proposed, I would like to consult the Executive Committee of the Bridge, that the authority necessary to engage the needed assistants and Computers may be had.
I have no doubt of being able to accomplish this, from the result of a similar application in the case of the Examining accountants.
Allow me to add that I should consider it a great misfortune for you to retire now, and therefore I beg to express the hope that you will re-consider the immediate step proposed by you. I have supposed that
