I respectfully submit herewith a chart showing current observations taken in the Arthur Kill through the Rapid Transit Bridge on April 3rd and April 4th 1888.

The floats used were ordinary beer kegs, 2 1/2 feet high, weighted down so that their centres would float at 6 feet below the surface of the water; both the tops and bottoms of the kegs were knocked out. They were connected with fine wire to hollow tin floats 18 inches in diametre which at the centre stood about 4 inches above the water surface. These were surmounted by a light stick 3/8" in diametre and 2 feet long with flags
