United States Engineer Office,

1428 Arch Street,

Philadelphia, April 5 1888

Lieut. Col. Henry M. Robert,

Corps of Engineers, U. S. Army.

Col T L Casey,

Dear Colonel:

The order for Board Meeting was rec'd on my return from Delaware Breakwater. Thanks for putting it on Tuesday.

I have scratched off some ideas on Arthur Kill Bridge which I send for your consideration. I would add a description of the two bridges giving them the option of the two, though I am getting to think the plan I have sketched is perhaps a little more convenient for all parties. In either case I would propose the Gov't dredge out the eastern bay to its full width as its share of the expense of the change, since it made the mistake of approving of the present bridge. $20,000 ought to cover the dredging. -- I would have a comparative sketch like the enclosed in the report. I send this that you may be ready to annihilate it when Board meets.

Yours truly

Henry M Robert
